What happens to a nation when you declare the death of its most shared belief? We set out to explore a dying American Dream and instead found a glimmer of hope.
THE AMERICAN QUESTION is about the social and political divide in America. With footage of Americans from all backgrounds and the testimony of dozens of experts, the film is going to reveal the real issues that are leading to our modern divisions to a widespread audience of Americans. The story is apolitical and explores the divisions between different groups of citizens: rich vs. poor, educated vs. uneducated, religions, business interests, communities and people of different political viewpoints. Through exploring the basic constructs of societies from a historical perspective, dipping back into ancient societies to the present day, we will set a context for how value systems are created and why they matter. This will present a cautionary tale for what could happen if we do not bridge the divide within our country, and indeed, the divides between international “city-nations” like Los Angeles, New York, London and Beijing, who have little in common with places even one hour outside of their boundaries.
