Sunlight is the best disinfectant –– Louis Brandeis
The Rogovy Foundation invests in inspired people and nonprofit organizations working to build a more enlightened and harmonious planet. As a small foundation, we favor highly targeted projects that will have measurable impact.
Our Focus Grant program provides discretionary grants supporting investigative journalism that spotlights critical issues and contributes to a free and open society. Our goal is to encourage exposure and awareness of topics including serious crimes, corruption, and conflicts of interest. We seek to strengthen public knowledge and transparency, recognizing journalism’s essential role in a functioning democracy.
Some of our favorite investigative news organizations include ProPublica, CREW (Citizens for a Responsibility and Ethics in Washington), Reveal (by the Center for Investigative Journalism), and Popular Information. Occasionally, our mission is fulfilled supporting documentary film projects, such as The Grab, an Emmy-winning project currently on HULU.
Our grants vary in size, and applications are only accepted via an initial Letter of Inquiry.
Grantees include both ongoing and one-time projects, and a list of previous recipients can be found here.
We are guided by ideals that Educate, Inspire, and Enrich. We support projects and organizations working to make our global community a better place.
Together we can make a difference.
