MARJOLAINE GRAPPE, DIRECTOR
MARJOLAINE GRAPPE is an independent documentary filmmaker, investigative journalist and a current SFFILM Film House resident in San Francisco. Her work on the financing of North Korea’s nuclear weapons ALL THE DICTATOR’s MEN (+28M viewers online) was awarded the 2018 Albert Londres Prize, the highest French journalistic distinction. Her feature documentary debut THE COLOR OF JUSTICE, about justice in the death of New Yorker Eric Garner, premiered at CPH:DOX in 2019. She started her career in Washington DC as a producer covering the 2008 U.S. Presidential Election, and went on to work in Asia as a foreign correspondent reporting from India (2009-2012) and China (2012-2016). She has directed several award-winning feature-length journalism investigations including Guantanamo Limbo and a series of investigative reports about China’s One-Child Policy.
DANA NACHMAN, PRODUCER
DANA NACHMAN is an award-winning filmmaker of both fiction and documentary films. Nachman’s films have
been seen by millions of people all over the world in theaters, on Netflix, Hulu, HBO, Max, and many other outlets. Nachman specializes in pulling out the emotion in any story whether a hard hitting investigative piece or a family friendly film. The Los Angeles Times writes, “Nachman adroitly focuses on the human stories… structuring narrative for maximum emotional impact.” Nachman’s latest feature documentary DEAR SANTA was purchased by IFC Films and was released in December 2020 in theaters and on demand and will go to Hulu in the coming months. The film is currently rated 92% fresh on Rotten Tomatoes. Nachman’s 2018 feature documentary PICK OF THE LITTER was released theatrically also by IFC Films. It currently streams on Netflix. The Walt Disney Company hired Nachman to remake PICK OF THE LITTER as a limited original series for Disney+. Nachman served as one of the showrunners of the series. She also directed three of the episodes. In 2018 Nachman won best female director awards at both Cleveland International Film Festival and Seattle International Film Festival.
THIERRY MARRO, PRODUCER
THIERRY MARRO is an award-winning French producer, co-owner and president of Memento. Before embracing a career in production, he worked in surveys for ten years, focusing on political and media studies. He has produced multiple documentaries on major international topics for the last 20 years. His latest productions include ALL THE DICTATOR’S MEN (Best Producer Award SATEV-FIGRA, Albert Londres Prize, DIG Awards, Selection Prix Europa) and a trilogy on ISIS commissioned by ARTE: ISIS DESERTERS SPEAK OUT, CHILDREN OF ISIS, WOMEN OF ISIS. His documentary series THE INSIDER was acquired by Netflix in 2016 he also produced a narrative feature SPECIAL FORCES, starring Diane Kruger and Djimon Hounsou, which was nominated for the NCAA Award, also acquired by Netflix.
CHELSEA MATTER, PRODUCER
CHELSEA MATTER is a documentary producer whose films have screened at Sundance, Tribeca, SXSW, Full Frame and IDFA and received national distribution through outlets such as IFC, RADiUS-TWC, The History Channel, Gravitas Ventures and OWN. Her most recent films include DEAR SANTA (Heartland premiere/IFC distribution), BLESSED CHILD (DOC-NYC premiere/Topic distribution), BEING EVEL(Sundance premiere, Gravitas/History Films distribution), A LEGO BRICKUMENTARY (Tribeca premiere/RADiUS-TWC distribution), The Human Experiment (Mill Valley/IDF A premiere). Chelsea graduated from Stanford University and is an alumna of the Tribeca Film Institute’s Tribeca All Access program and the Impact Partners Producers Fellowship.
