SARA CHISHTI, DIRECTOR / PRODUCER
Sara Chishti is a New York-based filmmaker dedicated to telling underrepresented stories. A Film and Media Studies graduate of Johns Hopkins University, Chishti is currently directing TAXI DRIVER, a documentary spotlighting the predatory taxi medallion crisis plaguing New York City’s cabbies, executive produced by Joseph Patel. Outside of directing, Sara has additionally produced several notable projects, including EXODUS, a documentary directed by Nimco Sheikhaden, which explored the challenges of re-entry, executive produced by Geeta Gandbhir, Blair Foster, and Rudy Valdez. The film premiered at SXSW in March 2025. She is also producing Mama Fela, a short film directed by Sheikhaden, telling the story of a Bed-Stuy-based educator, executive produced by Shaka King. Additionally, Sara has produced San Juan Hill: Manhattan's Lost Neighborhood, a Firelight documentary on the history of Lincoln Center, directed by Stanley Nelson, and episode 1 of HBO’s Eyes on the Prize - a continuation of the landmark documentary series - executive
produced by Dawn Porter and directed by Geeta Gandbhir.
GEETA GANDBHIR, EXECUTIVE PRODUCER
Geeta Gandbhir is an award-winning Director, Producer, and Editor. She started her career in narrative film under Spike Lee and Sam Pollard. After working for over a decade in the edit room on scripted films with the likes of Merchant Ivory, the Coen Brothers, Robert Altman, and others, she transitioned into documentary filmmaking. As a Director, she recently helmed the Sundance 2025 U.S. Directing Award-winning feature documentary The Perfect Neighbor, which will be released by Netflix, as well as the upcoming Netflix series Katrina: Come Hell and High Water, co-directed with Spike Lee and Samantha Knowles. She also co-directed Lowndes County and the Road to Black Power with Sam Pollard and Multitude Films, which premiered at the 2022 Tribeca Film Festival and was nominated for a 2022 Critics Choice Award.
Geeta directed the four-part HBO series Black and Missing, which won an NAACP Award for Best Directing, an Independent Spirit Award for Best Documentary Series, and a Cinema Eye Award. She also directed the HBO Max film Apart with Rudy Valdez, which won a 2022 Emmy Award, and the Emmy-winning short How We Get Free. Her 2020 short film with Topic Studios, Call Center Blues, was shortlisted for a 2021 Academy Award. Other projects include the Paramount+ series Born in Synanon, the six-part series Why We Hate for Jigsaw Productions and Amblin Entertainment for Discovery, and I Am Evidence for HBO, which received a Television Academy Honor. As an Editor, her films have won two Emmy Awards, four Peabody Awards, and one Academy Award.
