Focus Grant FAQ

What are the time limits or deadlines for the Letters of Inquiry?

There is no set time limit or deadline. We accept Letters of Inquiry and Proposals on a rolling basis.

Can I check on the application progress or discuss?

No. We will inform you of our decision within three months of your submission. If you have a query regarding your current application, please use the applicant login on our Website to access your submission status.

Does a Focus Grant guarantee a Miller / Packan Documentary Film grant?

No, there is no guarantee that winning a Focus Grant will gain you additional funding under the Miller / Packan Documentary Film Fund. Submissions that are awarded our Focus Grant will be invited to apply for further funding (up to $25,000) for additional development or production needs. At that point you will be competing with the other submissions during our bi-annual open calls.

How will I know that you received my application?

Once you submit your application on our Submittable platform you will receive a confirmation email. If we have follow-up questions or need more information or materials we will contact you.

What’s a common mistake you see in applications?

We reject films that merely are preaching to the choir. We seek projects that bring together divergent points of view in order to arrive at solutions based upon common ground.

If I win a Focus Grant, who owns the project?

The project is owned entirely by the filmmaker. We only request that the finished film include an appropriate credit recognizing The Rogovy Foundation.

Can I submit more than one proposal?

Yes, you can submit more than one proposal as long as they are for separate topics.
